VP of Human Resources

JOB DESCRIPTION:

​

The VP of Human Resources is responsible for directing the strategic and day-to-day functions and activities of the human resources department and includes but is not limited to: employee recruitment and retention, organizational development, performance management and career development, employee relations, compliance, compensation, and benefits.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

​

  • Automate onboarding process and conduct induction of new employees.

  • Handle end-to-end off-boarding formalities including exit interview.

  • Handle employee inquiries and provide advice and guidance on HR policies and procedures.

  • Maintain accurate personnel file and records in secure storage and in compliance with corporate policy and procedures.

  • Administer various HR programs e.g. recruitment, compensation, benefits, and policy.

  • Prepare HR metric, reports, presentation materials and other HR related documents for reporting and analysis; including monthly expense reports to EC, monthly employee counts with month over month changes to employees’ status and provide an automated reminder process for employee performance reviews.

  • Develop and closely manage the human resources budget.

  • Assure a pipeline of new personnel.

  • Work collaboratively with management to establish employee training and development programs through industry organizations and educational institutions.

  • Prepare reports for Executive Committee, corporate officers, branch managers, and/or government officials regarding human resources initiatives, project status, policies and practices.

  • Develop and administer job evaluations and annual review programs. Collaboratively create development plans and coach individuals in achieving them, while maintaining and nurturing employee morale.

  • Proactively develop and manage strategic benefit programs; work closely with industry brokers to identify a balance of cost effective and competitive programs, present EC with opportunities for effective programs beneficial to employee wellness.

  • Evaluate and benchmark compensation programs to establish and ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.

  • Advise and assist managers on resolving employee issues. Personally manage complex or significant employee relations issues, including investigations and resolutions.

  • Direct, recommend and proactively communicate appropriate corporate and local implementation of HR policies, practices and initiatives.

  • Set up confidential email “hotline” to EC for employee comments/complaints.

  • Provide advice and counsel to management on all organization and human resources issues.

  • Consult with management in aligning all human resources systems to drive desired business results.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws pertaining to the employment relationship for each state the Company conducts business.

  • Assure legal and regulatory compliance including but not limited to: equal employment opportunity/affirmative action, wage and hour, and work authorization; stays abreast of pending and new legislation; prepares and interprets employee statistics for government reporting.

  • Consult with management in aligning performance management and reward recommendations.

 

Education, Skills and Experience:

​

  • Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in business or applicable field of study.

  • 10 plus years in increasingly responsible Human Resources roles including direct involvement with management in high growth business environments; preferably gained in the financial industry.

  • Experience at building a strong, contemporary HR team.

  • Possesses both strategic thinking capability and “hands on” HR plan implementation experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with people at all levels.

  • Good team player, proactive, mature, excellent analytical skills and able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

  • Working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws pertaining to the employment relationship.

  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint are preferred.
