Executive General Manager – America




The Executive General Manager – America (EGM - America) will have overall responsibility for the strategy, implementation, and growth of operations and sales. This role will be to set the strategy and work closely with the Executive Team and Operations Managers to ensure the business is performing and meeting budget and financial KPIs. The EGM will focus on results and take responsibility for execution, prioritization, and setting standards while ensuring operations are compliant with relevant legislation.

This role will ensure the business delivers on the organizational strategy to meet customer expectations and contractual requirements.

The EGM – America will be responsible for safety, commercial, and resource efficiency together with customer success across all areas as well as identifying further opportunities for growth.


Position Responsibilities

Strategic Delivery & Performance

  • Work closely with the Executive Team to develop and successfully deliver the company’s combined group strategy.

  • Develop and execute America’s growth strategy.

  • Ensure that all engineering, operations, and business activities are conducted in a manner that meets, satisfies, or exceeds regulatory requirements.

  • Identifying and implementing new strategic initiatives, including:

    • opportunities to increase efficiency and improve performance and profitability,

    • collaborating with the sales and leasing team to increase market share and build long-term and sustainable relationships with new operators and/or potential customers,

    • opportunities to improve the commercial capability of operations by expanding existing relationships,

    • provide oversight in the management of long-term customer contracts.

  • Provide strategic leadership to core engineering and maintenance functions, creatingand leading a high-performing team that will deliver on key organizational indicators.

  • Work with other EGMs and GM of the Supply Chain to ensure strong key supplier relationships.

  • Represent the organization at the senior level at industry forums as required.

Financial Performance

  • Manage the budget to agreed targets and profitability goals.

  • Create and maintain a cost-effective environment.

  • Optimize structures, systems, processes, and activities to optimize financial outcomes.

  • Implement and manage the operational aspects of the annual budget to ensure profitability.


Sales Performance

  • Provide strategic business development support to the Sales team.

  • Set monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets for the Sales team.

  • Develop and report on the Sales pipeline.

  • Effectively manage Sales team to ensure full compliance with the company CRM system.

  • Provide business development and sales reporting to the CEO and Board as required. Commercial Performance

  • Ensure all financial and performance targets are set, monitored, and met by all managers.

  • Work with relevant leads and the sales and leasing team to ensure commercial opportunities are identified and scoped to add value to the business.

  • Actively manage P&L for operational areas and ensure all targets are met.

  • Ensure that the management team are clear on commercial objectives and support them to meet these.


Staff Management

  • Establish an effective management system and provide co-ordination for the Americas management team.

  • Set, manage, and oversee the performance goals and expectations of all direct reports.

  • Responsible for setting development plans and providing timely, relevant feedback to support their development.

  • Identify and facilitate opportunities for the development of team members.

  • Act as a role model for the organization’s values and the associated behaviors. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure that all work is completed in line with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015 and all regulatory requirements.

  • Actively understand and work with the organization's group Safety Management System to ensure all operations are conducted safely and in compliance with FAA/EASA regulations.

  • Actively identify and report hazards in the workplace.

  • Effectively contribute to and manage risk strategies across their site.

  • Ensure that all operational maintenance and project related health & safety requirements are clearly communicated and applied.

  • With the support of the Safety & Compliance team, develop and drive a positive safety culture.

  • Monitor Safety target and report on assigned Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs).

  • Ensure corrective/ preventive action resulting from internal quality assurance activity relating to maintenance control and process, is implemented in an effective and timely manner.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

  • 5+ years’ executive management experience within a complex, multi entity, multi territory environment.

  • 10+ years’ experience in the aviation industry with a strong focus on rotary aircraft.

  • 5+ years’ experience in the delivery of MRO services.

  • 3+ years and proven success in business development and/or sales experience in aviation.

  • Strong industry relationships in the Americas region are required.

  • Established relationships and working knowledge of USFAA and EASA.

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, commercial or relevant field.

  • Demonstrated business acumen and a sound understanding of complex commercial environments and contracts with a focus on profitability.

  • Strong understanding of global aviation industry.

  • Ability to lead and gain confidence of others.

  • Self-starter and confidence in navigating the unknown.

  • Highly developed verbal, written and presentation skills.
